Career Opportunity: Personal Assistant/Design to Iris van Herpen
 

 At the Iris van Herpen Atelier we are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and organizationally strong Personal / Design Assistant (m / f) to support the designer both in design and organizational tasks. This is a full-time employment opportunity based in Amsterdam.
 
Role objectives:
 
As Personal / Design Assistant to Iris van Herpen, you are responsible for the designer can make the most of her time by supporting her on all levels, including the design process, organizationally, and creatively.
 
Activities include:

• Support of the Couture design process and creative research
• Support for creative collaborations and fashion shows and events
• Management  of schedules, travel management, and filing
• Managing the Couture archive for (press) lending and exhibitions
• Guiding the development and production of bags and accessories
• Support the other members of the atelier team when needed during peak times
 
The skills, qualifications, and experience required for this job are:

• BA or MA in fashion design
• Prior work experience in an atelier in a similar role
• Being extremely organized, able to make clear schedules and organize tasks
• Excellent communication skills - spoken and written
• Excellent command of the English language
• Enthusiastic attitude, a lot of energy and flexible in working hours
• Knowledge of the Dutch language is an advantage
• European citizen or passport holder

Internships at Iris van Herpen

Internships at Iris van Herpen are offered for a minimum duration of 4 months. A European passport is required, unless you are studying at a Dutch university. Due to the many applications a response can take up to 6 weeks. Please wait for the reply and send your application far enough in advance. Interns are carefully selected and the internship is dedicated to the ambitions and skills of the applicant. Please mention in your application which position below you wish to apply for.

PR & Communications Internship

Working as part of the global PR team, the PR Intern supports the PR & Communications Executive ensuring the smooth day to day running of the press office with a focus on garment trafficking, preparing, arranging and receiving garment shipments. Responsibilies include: 

Press Placements:
  • -    Pro-active outreach and process print and digital press requests to secure and increase    relevant editorial coverage.

VIP Dressing:
-    Identify, outreach and manage relevant VIP target list including influencers, ambassadors and celebrities.

Garment Trafficking:
-    In collaboration with the Atelier Manager, manage coordination and logistics of garment movement to and from stylists, press and the atelier for editorial, interviews and VIP dressings.

Show & Events:
-    Press coordination and management for fashion shows and events.
-    Coordinate and conduct seasonal collection atelier previews and showroom re-sees.
-    In collaboration with an appointed PR agency for fashion shows, to identify, invite and manage the guest list and seating plan.
-    VIP outreach for front row attendance during fashion shows.
-    Fashion show and event on-site VIP and media management.
-    Photographer and videographer coordination.
-    Coordinate content creation for PR, press, digital and communications usage.
-    Create, distribute and manage fashion shows and events media kit.

Reporting:
-    Follow up with monthly and seasonally placement and performance reports for editorial features.

Atelier internship

Working closely together with the atelier where the collections are being developed and restored. This involves many different kinds of handwork, patternmaking, machine sewing, sourcing, graphic design and more and for some, a chance to join and help behind the scenes at Paris Fashion Week.

Requirements:

-    A degree or studying for a degree in fashion, or another relevant related direction
-    Command of the industry jargon in English
-    Excellent handwork skills
-    Patient, innovative, curious and hands on mindset
-    Educated and experienced in patternmaking and machine sewing
-    Time management skills as well as being able to work under time pressure
-    Advanced knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is an advantage


2D and 3D Graphic design internship

Working closely together with the atelier team on technical files for lasercutting, garment construction and development of fabric manipulation that requires computer vector and 3D visualization.

Requirements:

-    A degree or studying for a degree in architecture, industrial design, product design, graphic design and/or in fashion with a focus on construction.
-    Command of the industry jargon in English
-    Excellent logical, constructive and spatial aware way of thinking
-    Patient, innovative, curious and hands on mindset
-    Educated and experienced construction field
-    Basic knowledge of pattern making is an advantage
-    Time management skills as well as being able to work under time pressure
-    Advanced knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
-    Knowledge of 3D progams is an advantage
