Career Opportunity: Freelance bag developer/production manager

Currently, Iris van Herpen is working on complementing the successful Iris van Herpen Couture line with accessories that express the epitome of forward-thinking creativity, combining craftsmanship with innovations. For the new line of luxury bags, we are looking for an enthusiastic and perseverant freelance bag developer to create the new collections and to oversee production to the highest standards of quality. The freelance bag developer we are looking for has experience in novel and complicated bag production techniques, a network of specialist, best in class production companies and is able to inspire suppliers to collaborate to create truly unique creations. 

Role objectives:

As freelance bag developer at Iris van Herpen, you are responsible for supporting the design process, sourcing materials and production companies, the sampling of designs and overseeing the production of designs to the highest standards of quality.  
•    Based in the Netherlands or Belgium
•    Minimum of 3 years of experience with handbag production in Italy
•    Speaks Italian, English and preferably also Dutch
•    Excellent production planning skills
•    Experienced in making 2D/3D technical drawings and production packages

Career Opportunity: Personal Assistant/Design to Iris van Herpen
 
Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen is widely recognized as one of fashion’s most forward-thinking creators who continuously pushes the boundaries of fashion design. Since her first show in 2007, van Herpen has been preoccupied with inventing new forms and methods of sartorial expression by combining the most traditional and the most innovative materials and garment construction methods into her unique aesthetic vision.

At Iris van Herpen we are looking for an enthusiastic and organizationally strong Personal  Assistant / Design (m / f) to support the designer. This is a full-time employment opportunity.

Role objectives:
As Personal Assistant  / Design to Iris van Herpen, you are responsible the designer can make the most of her time by providing superior secretarial services, by supporting the designer in her daily work.

 Activities include:
• Taking care of external communication, handling incoming e-mails, calls, and requests
• Management  of schedules, travel management, and filing
• Managing the Couture archive for (press) lending and exhibitions
• Support for fashion shows, presentations, and other events and projects
• Support of creative collaborations
• Support of the design process
• Sourcing and ordering materials for the atelier
• Sourcing of suppliers and overseeing the production of shoes for the collections
• Guiding the development and production of bags and accessories
• Support the other members of the atelier team when needed during peak times

 
The skills, qualifications, and experience required for this job are:
• BA or MA in fashion design
• Prior work experience in an atelier in a similar role
• Being extremely organized, able to make clear schedules and organize tasks
• Excellent communication skills - spoken and written
• Excellent command of the English language
• Enthusiastic attitude, a lot of energy and flexible in working hours and holiday periods around peak times
• Knowledge of the Dutch language is an advantage

At Iris van Herpen we are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative candidate for the core team role of Global PR Manager. The candidate (m / f) will be responsible for creating innovative communication strategies and plans for the brand's activities and collaborations, handling all communications, directing the creation of all content and monitoring of results. In this role, the candidate will also act as PR coordinator and pro-active liaison between the creative team and the partners in creative, artistic and commercial collaborations. This is an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a candidate with a strong communications background.

Activities include:
•    Developing innovative communication strategies and plans for the brands current and future areas of activity, executing plans with partners and content creators and monitoring results

Internships at Iris van Herpen

Internships at Iris van Herpen are offered for a minimum duration of 4 months. A European passport is required, unless you are studying at a Dutch university. Due to the many applications a response can take up to 6 weeks. Please wait for the reply and send your application far enough in advance. Interns are carefully selected and the internship is dedicated to the ambitions and skills of the applicant. Please mention in your application which position below you wish to apply for.

Management and branding internship

Assisting with managing the Couture archive, the loans, the sales, the runway show and the PR. Working closely together with both the project manager and the commercial director. Assisting at photoshoots and developing graphics.

Requirements:
-    A degree or studying for a degree in fashion management, branding or communication, or another relevant related direction
-    Excellent in English 
-    Good organizational skills
-    Ambition for a future in the high-end fashion industry
-    Hands on and responsible attitude

Atelier internship

Working closely together with the atelier where the collections are being developed and restored. This involves many different kinds of handwork, patternmaking, machine sewing, sourcing, graphic design and more and for some, a chance to join and help behind the scenes at Paris Fashion Week.

Requirements:

-    A degree or studying for a degree in fashion, or another relevant related direction
-    Command of the industry jargon in English
-    Excellent handwork skills
-    Patient, innovative, curious and hands on mindset
-    Educated and experienced in patternmaking and machine sewing
-    Time management skills as well as being able to work under time pressure

2D and 3D Graphic design internship

Working closely together with the atelier team on technical files for lasercutting, garment construction and development of fabric manipulation that requires computer vector and 3D visualization.

Requirements:

-    A degree or studying for a degree in architecture, industrial design, product design, graphic design and/or in fashion with a focus on construction.
-    Command of the industry jargon in English
-    Excellent logical, constructive and spatial aware way of thinking
-    Patient, innovative, curious and hands on mindset
-    Educated and experienced construction field
-    Basic knowledge of pattern making is an advantage
-    Time management skills as well as being able to work under time pressure
-    Advanced knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
-    Knowledge of 3D progams is an advantage
