The 'Bird' dress (2013) is handmade of thousands of laser-cut nude dragon-skin feathers and inspired by the wilderness within people and our changing relationship with nature. There are three birds that are fighting together and trying to fly off. Its dragon-skin feathers create a vibrating optical illusion when looking at the birds in motion.

The 'Wonder Women' exhibition, entirely devoted to female designers, traveled from The Hague's Gemeentemuseum to Modemuseum Hasselt and will open its doors again on April 13th. Featuring four Iris van Herpen Couture dresses on display. The 'Bird' dress is also part of the permanent collection of the MET Costume Institute.
